Thin Film Pressure Balance acheté le 2000-01-01

This home-built device was developed by Cosima Stubenrauch at the University of Stuttgart. It is used to characterise the drainage and equilibrium thickness of thin liquid films as a function of the applied pressure difference between the liquid and the surrounding gas pressure. So-called "Disjoining pressure" curves are obtained which allow to characterise the interaction between the surfactant monolayers that stabilise the film. Recent optical developments allow us also to follow the dynamic thinning process with high precision.
