Leïla Garnier is doing a PhD in the PECMAT team at Institut Charles Sadron under the supervision of Olivier FELIX and Bruno JEAN (Centre de Recherches sur les Macromolécules végétales, Grenoble). Her PhD topic aims at developing bio-inspired multifunctional nanocomposite materials with complex anisotropies (e.g. helical superstructures) combining steel-like mechanical properties and optical properties of interest (selective optical filtering). This project aims at producing resistant and filtering thin films/coatings that will be competitive for future applications (e.g. anti-counterfeiting protection, flexible displays).
She has been selected for the regional final of MT180s which will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 2:30 pm. At this occasion she will have 3 minutes to present the manufacturing of ultra-resistant and transparent protective coatings using cellulose.
