Refund and eco-mobility

You can get a refund of 75% of your transportation costs (bus, train, streetcar...). Refund terms and conditions are available here for CNRS employees and here for employees of Unistra.

If you ride your bike or if you carpool, you may be eligible for the eco-forfait.

Details and procedures of refund are available on the Ariane platform for CNRS agents.

For Unistra agents, you must fill in the declaration of honor and send it to the University's human resources department. You will find details about the refund and your eligibility in the document here.

Car and driver's license

If you want to take your driving test in France, you must first register at a driving school. The first test you have to pass is the highway code, which you can review online. You must then do a minimum of 20 hours of driving with an instructor before you can take the test.

If you have a foreign driver's license, we invite you to consult the dedicated page of the public service and to fill in your information to have personalized information.
If you need to exchange your driver's license for a French one, please visit the ANTS website to complete your procedures online.

If you want to park your car on the street and your street requires payment, or if you want to park your car in one of the city's parking lots, you can buy a monthly pass.

In Strasbourg, there are sometimes days when some cars that pollute too much cannot be driven. Make sure your car has a Crit'Air sticker. You can also receive alerts (SMS/email/voice call) to know when Crit'Air 3 cars are not allowed to circulate because of a pollution peak by filling in the form here.

If you need a rental car, here is a non-exhaustive list of car rental companies:

  • Citiz: for occasional short trips, car to be dropped off at the point of departure
  • Yea!: for occasional short trips, car to be dropped off wherever you want, within a defined perimeter
  • SIXT: for longer trips, to be returned to a SIXT agency
  • Europcar: for longer trips, to be returned to a Europcar agency

Public transportation

For transportation in the city, we advice that you visit the website of the CTS (Compagnie des transports strasbourgeois).

If you want to take the train, we recommend you to visit the website sncf.fr to consult the timetables and SNCF connect to buy your tickets outside Grand Est. For interregional trips, you can consult the TER Grand Est website.

Bike

Strasbourg's cycling network is one of the best in France.
